Welcome to the InsideRide guide to the Petrer – El Manyar route on BKool. Please read on to see details and photographs on the route, route profiles, and our own ride data on this route.
The Petrer – El Manyar route on BKool is part of the Vuelta España 2011 Etapa 3. The route starts in the centre of Petrer, and makes its’ way quickly into the adjacent town of Elda – there is not much if anything separating the two. From Elda the route drops down to Monover, climbing in to the town, and straight over the turn to Novelda. The route continues to climb out of Monover, concluding at El Manyar.
The route is a wonderful ride, and we have ridden much of it in real life. The tarmac is smooth, the bike rolls through the climbs, and the skyline is dominated by the hills of this part of Valenciana – particularly the hulk of Sierra Del Cid.
As you can see, the BKool simulator can simulate local weather, unfortunately that also means that local time is simulated. In other words if you ride at night in winter in the same hemisphere, your ride in the dark.
The video is smooth and good, and appears to have been filmed during the Etapa, so expect good views of the pro peloton. The weather is good, and the crowds are out to watch the peloton pass. We recall seeing la Vuelta pass through the nearby town of Aspe the same year. Video is badged as HD, it does not have the quality of resolution that we seen on videos elsewhere, so we have identified as SD.
One particular highlight for us was passing under the Lineament de Alta Velocidad – the high speed tramline being built when we first visited this are in 2008. The line is built now, but we’re yet to see a high speed train pass on it. Not very ‘velocidad’, one might say.
